18xx in centre above promise text panel. Denomination in numerals in four corners in Persian, English, Marathi and Gujarati. Marathi and Gujarati in the lower panel with ‘Ru’ before the denomination. Different ornamental denomination panels for different denominations in
lower left. Manuscript signature Entd. by Accountant and Secy. and Treasurer for the Bank of Bombay. Printed on watermarked wove paper by Perkins Bacon & Petch, London using patent hardened steel plate.
Reverse

Note
- 1. The practice of manuscript numbers on either side of the note in Gujarati was prevalent in early banknotes as they were cut in half and were sent by post for security reasons. On acknowledgement of receipt of the first half, the second half of the note was also sent by post. These were then joined together for encashment.
- ‘Value received’ beside denomination in words in Promise text panel.
- Manuscript serial numbers are written in black or red ink.
