1st issue: Released in May 1923. Printed in England, at the Bank of England Press on white, handmade and moulded paper. GOVERNMENT OF INDIA in upper and lower margins. Portrait of King George V in right window. Serial number on top left and lower right. 10 on top right and bottom left. TEN / RUPEES in Central Denomination Panel. Signed FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA. Pattern of a basket weave with enclosed ‘10’ in central panel.

Reverse

GRI in a rectangle in top left, Rs / Ten and 10 in a wreath on either lower corners. The pattern of a rayed star and motto of Star of India – HEAVENS LIGHT OUR GUIDE beneath language panel in centre.
