1st issue Green underprint with two serial numbers.
GOVERNMENT OF INDIA in centre. Two serial numbers on either side. Two sets of mirrored date on either side and the circle of issue below promise text. The language panels are above promise text. Denomination panel are on either side. 50 / RUPEES in an octagon in lower corners. FOR THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA in a panel on lower left with the signature to its right. Green underprint of irregular ovals under serial number and large FIFTY in the middle.
Paper
White, handmade; moulded. The paper mould manufacured two notes joined together which were cut vertically after printing. The cut or the sharp edge is either on left or right. The other three edges are uneven or deckle edges.
Watermark
Wavy lines within a wavy rectangular panel. INDIA in centre and GOVERNMENT OF INDIA below. Vertical RUPEES inverted on either side. Plate number in an alphabet in lower left and week and year of manufacture in four digits on lower right.
